Yesterday, I taught a Halloween-themed yoga class for my teen students, and I enjoyed putting it together. Teaching yoga to children has taught me that they love games and animals, but the approach is a bit different for teens. I wanted to create a fun and unique experience for Halloween that would be age-appropriate.
To enhance the theme, I bought small pumpkins for each participant and provided a "healthier" candy at the end of the class. Instead of typical Halloween music for kids, I played acoustic autumn music. We used the pumpkins as small hand weights for some strength training and core work.
At the end of the class, I had the students write an affirmation about themselves—a word like “strong,” “able,” or “present.” My daughter, who is my toughest critic, said the class was fun, which I consider a great compliment!
